Matt’s Motorschool Inc., based in Abbotsford and Kelowna, BC, provides intermediate and advanced rider training in a controlled, closed-course environment. Our mission is to enhance riders’ skills and knowledge while fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning atmosphere. We offer riders of all experience levels the unique opportunity to train using the same techniques as Law Enforcement Motor Officers. Our team of highly skilled instructors brings extensive knowledge, expertise, and real-world experience to every course. By equipping riders with advanced skills, we aim to build confident motorcyclists and contribute to reducing motorcycle-related collisions and injuries on British Columbia’s roads.
All courses will proceed RAIN or SHINE. Any exceptions will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Matt’s Motorschool Inc. is owned and operated by a retired 21-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Throughout his career, Matt served primarily with Traffic Services, specializing as a Police Motor Officer. His experience includes daily operational duties, police training, VIP escort team riding, and competing in international police motorcycle skills competitions. Additionally, he has played a key role as an annual organizer of the Tri-Cities Motorcycle Skills Challenge, an event that allows the public to learn advanced riding techniques from law enforcement professionals. Matt is passionate about rider education and believes that every motorcyclist can enhance their skills through proper training and hands-on experience.
Before the course begins, participants will attend a 30-minute briefing. This session will include instructor introductions, an overview of fundamental riding techniques, a safety briefing, and a review of expectations for the closed-course training.
This session will serve as the participants’ first introduction to the closed course and its riding patterns. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, riders will have the opportunity to practice various cone patterns, receive personalized feedback, and refine their skills. At the end of Day 1, an optional time trial will be available, allowing participants to apply what they’ve learned throughout the day and navigate the full course.
On the second day of training, participants will continue to build on the skills developed during the previous session. Instructors will assess each rider’s progress, offering personalized feedback to help refine their technique and enhance overall performance.
TIME TO “TEST YOUR METTLE”
To conclude the training, riders will have the opportunity to participate in a second optional time trial, allowing them to measure their improvement over the course. Instructor evaluations and course feedback forms will also be completed at this time.
Each two-day course will conclude with a group ride, giving participants the opportunity to experience real-world group riding dynamics. Instructors will provide expert guidance on group riding safety, etiquette, and best practices.
Since many motorcyclists ride in groups, developing this skill is a crucial aspect of safe and responsible riding on the road.
