Located in Abbotsford and Kelowna BC, Matt's Motorschool Inc. offers intermediate and advanced rider training designed to elevate a riders knowledge and skillset in the confines of a closed course. Our goal is to teach riders in a safe, positive and mutually inclusive environment. We provide an opportunity for riders of various abilities to train the way Law Enforcement Motor Officers train. Our instructor cadre brings with them a high level of knowledge, expertise, and practical experience to share. With this knowledge our goal is to develop strong riders in hopes of reducing motorcycle related collisions and injuries on British Columbia's roadways.
All courses will proceed RAIN or SHINE. Any exceptions will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Matt’s Motorschool Inc. is owned and operated by a retired 21 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Much of Matt's career was served with Traffic Services in particular as a Police Motor Officer. This role included day to day operations, police training, VIP escort team rider, and international police motorcycle skills competitions. Additionally, Matt has served as one of the annual organizers of the “Tri- Cities Motorcycle Skills Challenge” where members of the public have the opportunity to learn riding skills from law enforcement. Matt believes that everyone can improve their riding capabilities through education and practical training.
Prior to course commencement, participants will receive a 30 minute briefing. This will include instructor(s) introductions, and basic riding techniques. This will be followed by a safety briefing and expectations of the closed course
This will be the first introduction to the closed course and its patterns. Participants will be under the supervision and instruction of an instructor(s). Participants will have the opportunity to practice various cone patterns, receive advice, and hone their skillset. At the end of day 1 there will be an optional time trial of the entire course and participants will be able to put what they learned during the day together.
The second day of training participants will continue to build on their skillset from the previous day. This will be the time for instructor(s) to evaluated each participants progress and provide feedback on how to improve their riding.
TIME TO "TEST YOUR METTLE"
Time will also be allotted at the end of the day for a second optional time trial to see how each individual has improved.
Instructor(s) and course feedback forms will be completed at this time.
Each two day course will conclude with a group ride where participants will be will have the opportunity to experience the group riding environment with expert advice on group riding safety and etiquette.
As many riders typically ride with others, development of this skill is an integral part of riding and road safety.
